Guitar Tube Amplifier
They are tube amplifiers (guitar) better than solid state?
I realized that tube amps with the same power as my solid state amplifier (75W) are much more expensive. I guess the sound must be better if they are much more expensive, but if I had to get to 15 - 30W amplifier tube still have a fuller sound than my amp?
It's all a matter of subjective opinion, but I and many others have to say Yes You can get many more great distortion effects that state.And solid for me, at least, the bass seems to come across both economically better.An approach is to get a tube preamp using 12AX7 tubes, connected to the input of its solid state Amp.If know someone who is in electronics, is one of those Kit described in this month's Nuts & Volts Magazine.
I wondered if it would be possible to use them as an amplifier. No tubes, no tone controls, probably only a volume control, basically, some of speakers in a box. Can this be done, and where I could find some basic guidelines / instructions? I will use for gigging or anything, I more or less, only I want to experiment, so we really do not have to be fancy at all.
