How old is this mouthpiece and what is it worth?
I recently acquired a 1960's Buescher Tenor Saxophone. Inside there was a Selmer c Star mouth piece. I am familiar with the c Star but this one had a gold colored rim around the outside of the end that the saxophone's neck inserts. Any ideas?
Buescher used to make GREAT horns....look for the Buescher 400.Somewhere around late 50tys early 60tys ,Selmer bought them out and used the model to create their first Bundys, you may have a winner...have a pro check it out...Re the mouthpiece...the c* is a stock mouthpiece for the beginner...yours ( because of its age may have a slightly different opening and chamber than the new ones....remember the mouthpiece is only a way for you to create YOUR sound as comfortablely as possible
What size piece of mouth is beginning trumpet?
Let's buy a trumpet for the child of our 11 years of age, who will play for the first time this year. The trumpet that we have chosen comes with a 7c mouthpiece size. Is this a good size to start?
7C is what any trumpet teacher would recommend to start. That will work for him for some time. Finding a good teacher, it will be the most important thing. I'm in my mid 40's, and I still appreciate all the things that my old teacher taught me over the years.
