Midi Keyboard Controller
help with MIDI keyboard controller delay. ?
I recently bought a 25 x E-MU MIDI controller number on board and I am using it with Cubase Studio 4 for sequencing. Unfortunately, there is a slight delay from you press the button and hear a sound. I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 view using. what could be the problem and is there any way to fix it. ps. Would it work better if you normally use a computer running Windows XP.
This is called latency. Simply put, you need a sound card that can run ASIO drivers. ASIO drivers can provide very low latency, without any noticeable delay between key press and the note sounded. It is doubtful your laptop can run these drivers with the sound chip inside, so had to buy a sound card USB external. A computer with XP is a cheaper way to do it, as internal sound card compatible with ASIO, tend to work more value and more reliable (in my experience). I recommend at least an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI card, as this generally provides good sound quality and functionality. It - Many professional musicians use computers laptops on stage! thats all you need ASIO compatible with all hardware. And since not often come with a laptop, you need to buy the outer box. Dontcha hate when people answer questions and do not know what they're talking about? DUH.
What are MIDI controller and a portable keyboard?
Hello. I can not understand the differences between these two .. Can anyone explain that in an easy coz i do not know much about music? Thanks in advance:)
First: a portable keyboard: when you press the button to get a sound. It can be like a piano or a synthesizer. Generally, you can get many different sounds from them, and sometimes can be a MIDI controller as well. A controller MIDI: MIDI data sent rather than an actual audio signal. The note is sent to beat, time, speed, etc. The computer sends the information to the controller to activate the sound. This is very useful for recording. Basically, you need not worry for now, if you do not know many things about music. =)
